Many local organisations hold activities or events which require the temporary closure of sections of the district roads.  Occasionally construction projects being undertaken in various locations around the Ashburton District also require temporary road closures.

WALNUT AVENUE

From 24 March 2025, 6.00 am to 26 March 2025, 6.00 pm

Affected Roads:

Stage 1 - Walnut Avenue (one-way closure of eastbound traffic lane), between McLean Street and Cass Street

Stage 2 - Walnut Avenue (both lanes closed), between Cass Street and William Street

Closure Detail:

Full road closure to commence once one-way closure has been lifted but will otherwise be in place daily from Mon 24^th – Wed 26^th March 6:00am to 6:00pm anticipated to be finished before this.

MAINWARINGS ROAD

From 27 January 2025, 6.00 am to 24 February 2025, 6.00 pm

Affected Roads:

Mainwarings Road, between Griggs and Gardiners Road

Closure Detail:

This section of road will be reopened at the end of each day

Reason for Closure:

Road maintenance - dig outs, sealing, stabilisation

KING STREET, ALEXANDER STREET

From 3 February 2025, 6.00 am to 13 September 2025, 6.00 pm

King Street and Alexander Street, between High Street and Chertsey Kyle Road

Closure will not impact Chertsey School access

MARONAN ROAD

Maronan Road, between Lovetts Road and Lills Road

Reason for Closure:

Road rehabilitation

Detour Option(s):

As the closure is primarily a rural road used by local traffic and there are multiple detour routes dependent on the desired end location of the vehicle, detour route will not be signed out

SEAFIELD ROAD

From 6 January 2025, 6.00 am to 12 April 2025, 7.00 pm

Affected Roads:

This work will be completed in two stages:

Stage 1 - Seafield Road, between Morris Road and Milton Road South

Stage 2 - Seafield Road, between Milton Road South and the Ashburton airport
