SH1 Tinwald update: Project nearing completion
12 March 2024 Update from NZ Transport Agency
The new traffic signals at the SH1/Lagmhor Road/Agnes St intersection are on track to be switched on by April.
The final piece of work is to install the LOC box, an essential component that is responsible for coordinating the barrier arms with the pedestrian gates and traffic lights.
While this is being done, a road closure will be in place on Lagmhor Road at the intersection with SH1 and the rail level crossing from March 22 until 6pm on March 26.
There will be no access in or out during this time so please follow the signposted detour routes.
Once the traffic signals are operating, they will create a safe crossing point between the east and west sides of the township.
In the meantime, there are still a few tasks left to complete on the project such as line-marking and landscaping.
The final line marking at the SH1/Lagmhor Road/Agnes St will begin next week and be finished before the new traffic signals are on. The landscaping will continue into April.
