New Council committee to oversee three waters services

Methven's new water treatment plant was opened in October 2023.
Council has established a committee dedicated to three waters activities, which include drinking water, wastewater and stormwater.
The Three Waters Committee will provide oversight of the district’s three water services and infrastructure in a way that promotes the current and future interests of the community.
Group Manager of Democracy and Engagement Toni Durham said the new committee was in response to Council wanting to ensure it is governing the three waters activities well.
“The committee’s key role will be to consider and review matters of compliance, the work programme, service delivery and forward planning and make recommendations to full Council if appropriate.
The new Three Waters Committee will comprise of six elected members – Cr Russell Ellis (who will be chair), Cr Lynette Lovett, Cr Phill Hooper, Cr Tony Todd, Cr Liz McMillan and Mayor Neil Brown.
It will meet every six weeks and consider three waters work that was previously reported at Council Activity Briefings.
