Council services over Canterbury Anniversary weekend 2024
There are no changes to kerbside rubbish and recycling collection in the Ashburton District on Friday 15 November, which is a public holiday to celebrate Canterbury Anniversary Day.
If your bins are emptied on a Friday, then please put them out by 7.30am as usual and remember to use the windstrap, whether it’s windy or not.
There are a few other changes to Council services on the public holiday, but the Ashburton Art Gallery and Museum, and EA Networks Centre will both be open for business.
Rubbish and Recycling
There is no change to kerbside rubbish and recycling collections and Friday’s collection will take place as usual, with residents to have their wheelie bins out by 7.30am. Remember to use your windstrap, whether it's windy or not.
Resource Recovery Parks
The Ashburton Resource Recovery Park will be open Friday 15 November from 9am until 5pm, Saturday from 9am-6pm and Sunday from 9am-5pm.
The Methven green waste dropoff will be open Sunday from 12pm until 4pm.
The Rakaia Resource Recovery Park will be closed on Friday.
EA Networks Centre
Have some fun in the pool, or put up some hoops on Canterbury Anniversary Day, as the facility will be open from 10am-5pm. It will be open usual weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 7pm.
There will be no swim school lessons on Friday 15 November.
Mt Hutt Memorial Hall
The Mt Hutt Memorial Hall at Methven will be open from 10am until 2pm on Friday 15 November, and from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Ashburton Library
The Ashburton Library will be closed Friday 15 November, but open Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm.
Ashburton Art Gallery and Museum
The Ashburton Art Gallery and Museum will be open 10am-4pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Drop in and learn something new about the clever crustaceans that inhabit our seas or explore the dream-like paintings of Esther Deans. The gift shop will also be open for those eager to get their Christmas shopping sorted early.
Customer Services
Council’s Customer Services counter at Te Whare Whakatere will be closed on Friday 15 November, Saturday and Sunday, re-opening on Monday 18 November at 8.30am. If you have a problem or urgently need to contact us, then the afterhours service will be operating - please phone 03 307 7700.
Emails, Snap Send Solves and website requests will be cleared Monday morning.
Public toilets around the district will be open as usual during the long weekend.
All facilities will return to normal hours on Monday 18 November.
