Lake Hood water shutdown: Monday 3 July

The water supply to Lake Hood will be shut down for four hours on Monday 3 July so contractors can connect a new subdivision to Council’s drinking water network.

About 300 households at the lake will be affected and the water will be turned off between 9am and 1pm on Monday. Residents may wish to store some drinking water for use during the shutdown period, or fill a bucket with water if they want to flush their toilet.

Contractors are connecting the Ashbury Grove subdivision, at Tinwald, to the Council water network at Grahams Road, so the Lake Hood connection further east is temporarily affected.

A water tanker will be at the Lake House for residents who need water during the work period.

Lake Hood residents will also be receiving notification of the shutdown in a letter drop over the next few days.

After a shutdown, it is common for air and discoloured water to be trapped in pipes, but this is normal. Residents are encouraged to flush internal taps for two minutes or until all the air and discolouration passes.

People in the Lake Hood area signed up to Council’s free text alert service will be sent a shutdown reminder notice on Sunday.
