Prepare for changed traffic conditions on Tancred Street

Published: 27 November 2020

Parts of Tancred Street in the Ashburton CBD will be off limits to traffic for several days from Wednesday next week (2 December) as streetscape upgrades continue.

The Council's contractor, Tru-Line Civil will begin installing a new paved pedestrian crossing outside ANZ bank and will continue carrying out road digouts and rehabilitations outside Eastfield Health, which will restrict traffic access from 2 December until 13 December.

Vehicles will only be able to drive up Tancred Street from East Street as far as the Eastfield carpark entranceway (beside the Bald Barber) and will have to exit Tancred Street onto Cass Street from the carpark.

Traffic will not be able to drive straight up the road and exit directly onto Cass Street.

Additionally, no on-street carparks will be available on Tancred Street throughout the work, but pedestrians will have access at all times.

New footpaths on the way

From tomorrow (Saturday 28 November) new concrete footpaths will be poured on Tancred Street from the Arcade to the Bald Barber and between Stirling Sports and Time For Diamonds on the other side of the road.

New pavement will then be poured up to the ANZ bank on Thursday 3 December.
