Cass Street road seal starting next week - Ashburton CBD

Published: 28 August 2020

Parts of Cass Street in the Ashburton CBD will be temporarily closed to traffic next week (31 August) as the Council's contractors prepare and seal the road.

The work is part of the CBD streetscape upgrades.

Cass Street from the Moore Street intersection along to the Briscoes loading zone (both sides of the street) will be closed to traffic on Monday 31 August and Tuesday 1 September. Access to the Brophy Knight/Westpac carparks will be available from the northern-end of Cass Street.

On Wednesday 2 September and Thursday 3 September, work will progress along Cass Street from the Briscoes loading zone to Tancred Street. This section of the road as well as the corner adjacent to Briscoes (the north-bound lane of Tancred Street) will be closed for approximately 40 metres. Access to the Brophy Knight/Westpac carparks on these days will be available from the Moore Street-end of Cass Street.

Cass Street (Briscoes loading zone to Tancred Street) will remain closed on Friday 4 September for final surface preparation and sealing, before the whole street from Moore Street to Tancred Street is sealed with asphalt overnight on Friday 4 September. This work will be carried out between 6pm and midnight. Moore Street will remain open to through-traffic during the above period with only Cass Street being closed.
