Cass and Havelock Street intersection upgrade starting this month

Published: 11 September 2020

Motorists are being advised that the Cass/Havelock Street intersection in the Ashburton CBD will be temporarily closed for two weeks from 21 September, as the CBD revitalisation contractors upgrade it to be a raised paved intersection - the same as at Cass and Moore Streets.

Once completed, the raised intersections are designed to alert drivers that they are entering a 30km zone.

The work is expected to close the intersection to all through-traffic from 7am, Monday 21 September until 6pm, Sunday 4 October.

In addition to the intersection upgrades, the Council's contractor has been preparing and sealing the Cass Street road surface between Tancred and Burnett Streets.

On Monday 14 September, the TruLine Civil team will be moving north along Cass Street to continue the kerb and channel work on the western side of the street (Speighs Alehouse side) between Burnett and Havelock Streets. Full road resurfacing preparation for this section of road is programmed to begin Monday 28 September.
