CCTV Cameras

Ashburton District Council operates Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in the Ashburton district. The CCTV system aims to make Ashburton a safer place through prevention activities that target crime and public disorder, increase public safety and ensure efficient responses.

Monitoring and use of images are carried out in accordance with the Privacy Act and Ashburton District Council CCTV Guidelines.

If the public want to request images regarding a crime, the first step is to log a complaint with the Police. The Police can request the images directly from Council (if there is any information held on the incient). Council will not release images directly to the public or private organisations. The process for requesting CCTV images is provided below.
