Creative Mends Workshop

About the event

Sadly, ‘throw away’ culture has led to a noticeable drop in people learning simple clothing repair skills. As a result, many of us now lack a real understanding of the various stitching techniques and tricks used in basic fabric repairs. In this hands-on workshop we’ll encourage you take a more mindful and environmental approach to your wardrobe, you’ll learn how to:

– Fix rips, holes and other wear and tear areas
– Sew on buttons, poppers and hooks/bars
– Mend frayed edges and holes in knit sweaters

The workshop includes a starter sewing kit and fabric swatches to practice on, but we encourage you to bring along items of your own clothing to work on directly!

We welcome anyone aged 16 and over to this workshop, with a maximum of 15 participants. RSVP to aagm@adc.govt.nz
